If one were to ask for a show of hands from a large gathering of the unconverted, it would be interesting to see the number of hands that would shot upward. People are busy nowadays; the evidence is all round us.
On the highways and byways, mostly everyone seems to be speeding into nowhere; it’s a mad rush as if there is no time. If you are on the streets, you see people rushing to and fro – whether to work, back from work, to grocery shopping, to pick up the children from school, to the cinema, pharmacy or retail store. Wherever! It’s is a constant rush. It’s no wonder our fast food businesses are so profitable. Everyone is rushing to somewhere and for what?
One would tend to believe they either are making use of time, don’t have enough time to do whatever they have to do in 24-hours or seven days a week or for a month, that they have to be in a rush to catch up on time.
The reality is no one can catch up on time. It may seem quite feasible, but it is not realistic. The truth is time is a perishable human experience. You cannot put it in store and then use it later. The one hour you missed on June 10, 2015 cannot be gained ever. It is gone forever. That hour, and many more hours will be available again but it is not the same hour. It is an hour for a different time and essentially for a different purpose.
One writer says, “Time is measurable. Everybody has the same amount of time…pauper or king. It is not how much time you have; it is how much you use.”
Some of us use our time wisely, others waste it foolishly on the unproductive, meaningless, and the vain. The writer added, “No one can manage time, but you can manage those things that take up your time.”
We grow older because of time. We are physical beings who cannot live forever in the flesh, hence time is our master. God, who does not need time, gives us time as a measuring stick of our limitations as humans. There’s a popular saying, “time waits for no man (or woman).” Each second of your life you get older and nearer to your demise. What then?
Are you investing or managing your time the way you should? Do you do chores or function in an environment where you prioritize your time? What are your priorities in life anyway? Job, house, car, travel, money, family? Those are good blessings to have during your sojourn on earth. How about the One who created YOU. Do you have time to acknowledge who He is in your life? Can you spare a few minutes each day whether through prayer or a scripture to give Him thanks and praise for you to live to see another day? Does He deserve your precious time? Or, you don’t need Him at all…only when you have troubles.
Ephesians 5:16 warns us about, “Redeeming the time because the days are evil.” We live in perilous times – dangerous times, when everything is point to a planet rocked by violence, crime, sexual immorality and all types of sin. Our world is sinking in sin and only a returning Jesus Christ can save it. The warning: repent while you have the time! For more on this subject, download FREE our booklet, EVIDENCE OF THE END TIMES.
