The Holy Bible has a lot to say about “the last days,” or “the time of the end,” meaning the close of human civilization. The age will not end when Christ returns, but everything as we know it, will change. It will be a brand new age; one that will have no sorrow or pain “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away,” (Rev. 21).
It’s rather interesting how Paul, writing to Timothy, gives us a picture of what we should look for when such a time is close. If you spend a few minutes to go through all of these signs one by one, before you finish them, any spiritually-minded person will conclude we are either in this period of human history or we are about to enter it. Listen to Paul “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth,” 2 Tim. 3:1-8.
I’m particularly touched by every single one of those signs Paul gave to Timothy. Why? You look around our society today and you see them being fulfilled right before our eyes, but worst of all, many people seem oblivious to the signs of the time of the end. If they are aware, they are not talking about them, the way they should; after all it is about the closing of human history. This time was prophesied and it’s happening faster than we may believe. However, people are more tied up in making a living or simply having a good time “eating, drinking, marrying,” just like in the days of Noah. What comparison does the scripture give regarding those days? “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark,” Matt. 24:36. In fact, the entire chapter of Matthew, better known as the Olivet Prophecy, is all about the Second Coming and its accompanying signs and wonders. We see a society with all manner of wickedness happening in every corner of the world.
Is it any wonder, John 5 5;19 talks about the whole lying in wickedness. That’s prophetic, too. We know that anyone born of God does not keep on sinning; the One who was born of God protects him, and the evil one cannot touch him. We know that we are of God, and that the whole world is under the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.”
One would conclude people would become more conscious of every day happenings and seek to draw closer to God. While some churches preach as if Satan and YAHWEH are in a battle to gain souls, the scriptures teach no such doctrine. God has His plan already worked out as revealed in His annual Sabbaths or Holy days, which most Christians continue to ignore, no wonder the misunderstood teachings. God is calling many people in this age, but not everyone at the same time. The books of Daniel, John and Revelation speak of more than one resurrection. I Corinthians 15 speaks of “every man in his own order, Christ the firstfruits, and those that are Christ’s at his coming.” However, everyone will have their own opportunity to answer God’s call, but that’s for another article. Stay tuned.
Today, we see a flood of mockers, scoffers, and jeerers of the Christian faith who enjoy picking at human weaknesses to justify their beliefs that there is no God or they are not sure whether this universe has a designer. They mock God in every respect of the word without any fear for reprisals. You see or read them on social media more than any other place else. They seem to enjoy doing that behaving as if they have no one to give an account to because they don’t believe in God. Sorry friend, you will have your day. No one is going to escape the judgement of Almighty God. You can mock all you want, you can undermine the Almighty God to your last breath, it doesn’t matter, Jesus Christ is coming and there’s nothing you can do to stop that return.
There is one thing the scoffers and mockers may not be even be conscious about. Read this: “Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name above all names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father,” (Phil. 2:10).
Yes, Jesus Christ is returning and no one can stop Him. The time clock is ticking, fast, too. The message to all men is to repent and be baptized for the remission of sins. Today may very well be your calling. Remember, you will have your day! For more information on this subject, download our FREE booklet WHY CHRIST MUST RETURN.
