It is not about going to heaven!

At this time of the year, many Christians focussed on the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ because of Easter, a pagan-rooted festival that has taken away a lot from God’s true Passover. The Holy Bible describes Jesus Christ as “our Passover,” 1 Cor. 5:7. This tells us about the New Testament Passover, which he instituted the night before he was crucified. In essence then, the Bible-based season is for the LORD Supper or Passover, which was observed this year on Friday March 26, not Good Friday, April 2, or Easter April 4.

One of the reflections of the season for many Christians is the destiny of humanity who have accepted the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and surrender their lives to Him. This is made possible through His resurrection – He sacrificed His life for our sins, overcame death and now grace is extended to humanity who so decides. They believe their destiny is to go to heaven when Jesus returns. But is that truly biblical?  Does the Bible promise heaven?

If the Holy Bible, the God-breathed Word of God, says something different from the belief of most Christians, then they have a problem, not the Bible. There are no scriptures that explicitly tells you Christians are going to heaven. It’s all about how Christians have interpreted the Word of God. If the Bible promises heaven, as they claim, there is a problem. Why? There are many scriptures that clearly say otherwise. Here are some of them:

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband,” Rev. 21: 1-2). Verse 10 “And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God…”

“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth,” Matt. 5:5.

“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth,” Rev. 5:10.

“Shout and be glad, O Daughter of Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the Lord, Zech. 2:10. Verse 11 The Lord will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem.

“And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever,” Rev. 22:5.

The millennial rule of Jesus Christ is clearly over the entire earth in fulfillment of Psalm 2:6-9 (Ps. 72:8; Dan. 2:35; 7:14; Micah 4:1-2; Zech. 9:10) and many other scriptures. This is in keeping with His title in Revelation 19:16 as “King of kings and Lord of lords.”

Christ’s millennial reign on Earth speaks of the healing of the nations (Isa. 29:18; 33:24. Rev. 22:2); nations will prosper (Jer. 31:12; Ezek. 34:25-29; Joel 2:21-27; Amos 9:13-14); there will be abundant rainfall (Isa. 30:23; 35:7); the knowledge of God will be as waters cover the sea (Isa. 11:9) and the law (yes, the law has not been abolished) shall go forth out of Zion (Micah 4:2).

Question: If Christians are going to “heaven”, what should we do with these and countless other scriptures from the Holy Bible that point to a new heaven being established right here on Earth, where the Kingdom of God will reign forever? Furthermore, Christians who have died are not already in heaven, they are sleeping in their graves waiting for the resurrection. Hear the words of Jesus “And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven,” John 3:13.  For more on this subject, download FREE our booklet, IS ELIJAH IN HEAVEN?
