There’s power in the blood!

“There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb.”

Those lyrics of a popular song ring true. Very true. He came, He did what He had to do and Jesus Christ accomplished His mission on Earth. He came, He died, and became the “firstfruits” of all those who are in Christ.

The Eternal sent His only begotten Son to shed His blood for the sins of humanity. What’s the significance of the shedding of blood?  Hebrews 9: 11-15, “But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.  Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.  For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh,  how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?  And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.”

We are no longer destined to remain dead in our graves because of our sins. Another songs says, “Jesus paid it all and all to Him I owe.” We are now made righteous by the blood of “Our Passover,” Lamb, Jesus, the Christ. His death means life and His death means power – power over the grave.

The death and subsequent triumph over the grave means the saints of the Most High God have been given power to resist the evil one and overcome sin. “ To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne,” Rev. 3:21. The power that blood gives to us means one day we, too, will have victory over the grave.

During our Christian walk, there are many trials and hurdles to confront. The Holy Bible describes our journey as being a straight and narrow road. However, there’s an alternative path, which is broad, but it is the way that leads to destruction, the Bible admonishes us.

We have been given power, not a spirit of fear, to overcome. 2 Tim. 1;7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.” The shed blood of Jesus Christ should mean everything to us, especially when it comes to our fears or any temptation we believe we don’t have the power to overcome.

During this season of Passover, it’s an opportune time to reflect on what “Our Passover” has done for us. It is equally fitting we meditate on what the spilling of blood means for the future of humanity. It’s not just about offering power to overcome the challenges of this life, but more importantly, what the future holds for us when we experience the full measure of God’s power and love for us.

Indeed, there’s power in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. It was no ordinary sacrifice – it was the ultimate sacrifice when He laid down His life for us. That was no mere act. In the fullness of time, humanity will come to see what His sacrifices means. There’s power in the blood!
